Starting Somewhere
In October of 2024, the NeTL team set out to host our very first hands-on workshop, and we were fortunate to have the skilled Travis Gagnon guide us through it. Travis, who was born and raised in the Adirondacks, brought forward his many years working in construction, to offer attendees of the workshop, practical guidance on how to repair holes, nail pops, and other sheetrock related issues.
Over ten community members squeezed in to fill the cozy tool library space at the Grange, eager to learn a new skill. We asked questions, shared about the projects we were working on, and one-by-one, attendees stepped up to practice on the prop-sheetrock wall.
There was a shared excitement in the room, not just in learning a new skill but in working alongside one another.
It is one thing to lend out tools, and another to teach people how to use them. Through NeTL, we hope to continue doing both.
